Book Review Event at Qazvin BookCity

Book Review Event at Qazvin BookCity

On Thursday, June 21, 2024, Qazvin BookCity hosted a cultural event centered around the review and discussion of the book “A New Destiny” (سرنوشت تازه). This book explores the poetry of Nima Yushij, one of the most influential and groundbreaking figures in modern Iranian literature.

Nima Yushij (1897-1960) is widely regarded as the father of modern Persian poetry. He revolutionized the traditional Persian poetic form by introducing free verse and moving away from the rigid structures of classical poetry. Yushij’s unique poetic style was characterized by its focus on the inner world of the individual, the exploration of human emotions, and a strong connection to the natural environment.

The author of the book, Dr. Faryad Naseri, was present at the event along with Mr. Majid Baldaran as the literary critic. A group of literature and culture enthusiasts also attended the event at BookCity Qazvin.

During this program, various aspects of Yushij’s poetry were explored, including the meaning and concept of the “world”, the external world, the internal world, and the life-world from Nima’s perspective. The evolution of the concept of nature in Nima’s work was also discussed, as well as Nima’s mode of perception and experience in the face of worldly phenomena. Additionally, the revealing of the human persona in Nima’s writings was highlighted – the human who wishes to become themselves, and the human who has already done so.

This event is a testament to BookCity’s role as a vibrant cultural hub that fosters dialogue and engagement around books and literature. With over 90 branches across more than 40 cities in Iran, including the one in Qazvin, BookCity has established itself as a leading platform for intellectual discourse, cultural exploration, and the promotion of literary arts.

By hosting events like this book review session, BookCity provides a space for readers, authors, and critics to come together, share perspectives, and delve deeper into the nuances of literary works. These discussions not only enrich the understanding of the texts themselves but also contribute to a broader dialogue on the human experience, societal trends, and the role of literature in shaping cultural narratives.

The BookCity network serves as a catalyst for cultural exchange, encouraging the exploration of diverse ideas, worldviews, and creative expressions. Through its extensive reach across Iran, BookCity has become a hub where communities can engage in meaningful conversations, discover new literary voices, and foster a deeper appreciation for the power of the written word.
